**Update (12:42p.m.) — The New Orleans Saints announce they have hired Kellen Moore as the team’s new head coach

Done deal. After days of waiting for the conclusion of Super Bowl LIX, the New Orleans Saints have their head coach.

The team officially announced Moore’s hiring in a press release early Tuesday afternoon.

“At the start of the interview process, it was important to find a head coach who was the
right fit for the New Orleans Saints organization,” said Owner Gayle Benson. “Through
the search process, it became clear that Kellen is the right person to help us re-establish
a winning program and culture that our fans are accustomed to and have come to expect.
I would also like to thank Darren Rizzi for his service as interim coach and leading our
team this past season. I am truly grateful to him.”

Moore, 36, has had a remarkable week, thus far. The Super Bowl-winning coordinator spent all of last week in New Orleans practicing at the Saints’ facility in Metairie, La., and getting familiar with what will be his new stomping grounds.

“I am excited to join the New Orleans Saints and deeply appreciate the faith that Mrs.
Benson and the entire Saints organization have placed in me,” said Saints Head Coach
Kellen Moore. “I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead and am eager to get
started. I would also like to thank the Philadelphia Eagles for an incredible 2024 season.
I’m excited to begin this new chapter.”

Moore capped the weekend with a resounding 40-22 Super Bowl victory over the back-to-back champion Kansas City Chiefs at the Caesars Superdome.

In his next game at the stadium, he will be adorned with the Saints’ fleur-de-lis logo while leading the NFC South team, which is looking to return to the playoffs after a four-year postseason drought.

“I would like to welcome Kellen Moore and his family to New Orleans,” said Saints
Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis. “He is an outstanding
communicator with the ability to lead people and has a clear vision for this football team.
Through this head coaching search, we had the opportunity to meet with several
impressive candidates and I thank them for their hard work and preparation in this
process.”

Reports have said for some time that Moore was expected to take the job and now, it’s a certainty. Moore will likely visit with New Orleans media in the coming days as he is introduced via press conference. Even before then, expect him to be hard at work assembling his staff and potentially making decisions on the team’s future at quarterback.
