NEW ORLEANS, La. — This one always seemed logical and more like a matter of when, not if. The New Orleans Saints announced Tuesday afternoon that the offensive lineman Landon Young has re-signed on a one-year deal

Young, 27, was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by New Orleans and now returns after the expiration of his rookie deal.

Young has played both at tackle and guard on either side of the field for New Orleans as a swing lineman for the past few years. His ability to provide depth across the line made him a shoo-in to return to the team.

Young has appeared in 56 career games over his first four years with the team at numerous positions. He is often credited as one of the smartest guys in the locker room and provides a lot of insight in his dealings with the media.

The versatile asset is back in New Orleans for at least the 2025 season. He’ll be expected to contend to make the roster as a depth player but with an open spot at left guard still available, the Kentucky alum could end up competing for more.

New Orleans continues its “run-it-back” campaign on offense, which has raised some eyebrows. The team is clearly using health as a means of free agency for the unit, which was decimated with injury last season. With an opening starting spot still available, however, a chance for impactful change is still actionable.
