Saints show increased interest in Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart

By Ross Jackson
Add Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart back to the interest list for the New Orleans Saints. Technically, he was already there with early speculation, but the connections are apparently deepening.
Per multiple reports, Saints head coach Kellen Moore was in attendance during the Ole Miss pro day where he took some one-on-one time with quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Not The First Time Saints, Dart Have Been Connected
The Saints and Dart have been commonly linked since the end of the 2024 NFL season. Some believe Dart is the most “Jalen Hurts-esque” passer in this year’s draft because of his playmaking abilities out of structure. He has those capabilities without being the dynamic rusher in the ilk of Lamar Jackson. But his toughness and comfort operating out of structure make him a seriously intriguing process.
Where Will Dart Be Drafted?
The 6-foot-2, 225 pound passer could go as high as No. 9 to the Saints if Moore and his staff feel that highly about him. However, there’s a chance they could wait around until the second round at pick No. 40 to see if he makes it back around to them.
Another option, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Media suggests, is to trade back into the late portion of the first round. This would allow the Saints to keep an extra year of cost-control with a fifth-year option. This is similar to what the Baltimore Ravens did in 2018 in trading back into the opening round to select Lamar Jackson.
An Impressive Final Season
Dart finished 2024 completing 69.3% of his passes, 4,279 passing yards and 29 touchdown throws. He threw only six interceptions last year, 11 combined in the last two seasons.
