Saints to attend Warren’s private workout

By Ross Jackson
No NFL Scouting Combine workouts. No pro day participation. No problem when it comes to Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.
Per Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, the New Orleans Saints are among what has turned into an exclusive list of teams to join in on Warren’s private workout ahead of the NFL Draft.
No date was mentioned in the report, but per Pauline, Warren looks to be focusing on “a handful of teams” that could potentially select him in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft. The Saints are among the group.
“The New York Jets, Chicago Bears, and Indianapolis Colts were three of the teams named. Since then, I’ve been told the New Orleans Saints and both (Los Angeles) teams have seemingly joined the mix.”
Warren is an outstanding talent that looks like he would fit well in Saints head coach Kellen Moore’s system. Moore has already found success with tight ends like Dalton Schultz and Dallas Goedert in the past, taking advantage of their do-it-all natures and athleticism at the position.

The Penn State product is an entirely different level. His ability to be deployed in-line, from the slot and out wide rival the best tight ends in football. However, his capabilities out of the backfield and even as a passer are unique to his game. A unique aspect that the Saints, albeit under a different coaching staff, have learned to take advantage of over time.
Moore explained that his views on positional value are all about the impact the player can have in his offense as opposed to from what position that impact is coming.
“I think it’s really on guys who impact the game,” he said during the NFL’s annual meetings. “I think skill position guys, I think sometimes we get stuck with ‘running back, fullback, receiver,’ maybe a slot-only or outsider. Maybe only a tight end. The skill position group, I kind of sometimes lump together. You just want impact players.”
This workout could be a major opportunity for Warren and perhaps for the Saints as well, who have a lot of different directions they could go with the No. 9 overall selection.
Warren had a stellar 2024 reeling in a Big Ten leading 104 receptions for 1,233 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches. He also added 26 rushes for 218 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns while completing six passes for 35 passing yards and a touchdown strike.
