Some good baseball in Austin this weekend

Texas and Texas A&M met in Austin this weekend for the most anticipated series in college baseball season this year.

The end result wasn’t great for Texas A&M, and it’s not often that a series sweep is top tier television. However, this weekend’s series was cinema from game one. There were three straight one-run games capped off by a come from behind win on Sunday in game three.

Texas is for real, and as much guff as we’ve given them for playing tough games at home, starting 19-2 in SEC play through their first seven series is incredible.

Blue blood beats the new blood

Tennessee is a really good baseball team and Tony Vitello is an excellent coach. That being said, we were all Tigers this weekend. LSU taking two of three from the most loud mouth fanbase and program in the country was a beautiful thing.

What was most impressive and important for LSU was how they won. The resilience this team showed was remarkable. They rallied from a three-run deficit Friday to win on Bear Jones’ walk-off homer, bounced back from a tough loss Saturday, gave up two runs early Sunday, and still finished off the Vols with a dominant 12-2 win.

Here come the Gators

Florida has won their second straight series.

This time it was against top five Arkansas. The Gators are doing what they tend to do in late April the last several years, and that is come on strong to finish the regular season. The Gators are now in contention to slide back in the postseason and are currently a projected three seed for the NCAA tournament.

They’re one of 13 SEC teams currently projected.
