The “No Fun League” is usually a nickname reserved for the NFL. However, the SEC joined in on the (no) fun this weekend as they announced that Vanderbilt and Arkansas would both receive six figure fines for storming the field after their wins against No. 1 ranked Alabama and No. 4 Tennessee.
Vanderbilt was fined $100,000 for their first offense of the policy violation, but Arkansas received a $250,000 fine for being a repeat offender following their field rush after beating Texas, 40-21, in 2021.
Interestingly enough, the fines are paid to the institutions of the teams they beat on Saturday. So, Alabama and Tennessee will each receive some extra money for Halloween decorations soon. When asked about whether or not he was happy to pay the fine after their win, Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek said, “Hell yeah!”
Just another reason why this flawed sport is the greatest on the planet.
