Former Tiger Sam Burns will represent Team USA in the Presidents Cup later this month.
The 28-year-old Shreveporter was one of the six captain’s picks by American Captain Jim Furyk. This year Burns posted eight top-10 finishes including a T-2 at the BMW Championship and a T-3 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. He advanced to his fourth straight TOUR Championship after being the only player to post top-five finishes in each of the first two FedExCup Playoffs events.
“Sam is a great player who has consistently put himself on leaderboards over the last four years,” Furyk said in a release. “He has proven to excel in match play competition and demonstrates an unwavering level of passion and determination on the course, which will be a great asset for our team in Montreal.”
Burns previous played on the 2022 Presidents Cup team where he posted a 0-3-2 record. He was selected as a captain’s pick for the Ryder Cup in 2023, pairing with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler multiple days.
The Presidents Cup will be contested Sept. 24-29 at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada.
