Chris Olave has shot at career year in new Saints’ offense

By Ross Jackson
The New Orleans Saints are set to undergo an offensive overhaul in terms of scheme, though not necessarily roster and talent. That will open up a chance for returning players to build on their previous level of production.
Two years ago, even Alvin Kamara questioned what the offense was trying to be. Last year, it was labeled “stale” and “predictable.” One of its biggest flaws? A complete lack of a second punch.
Now, growing pains are expected. But so is progress. And for wide receiver Chris Olave, that could mean a breakout season in a system built to showcase his strengths.
With the NFL Draft on the way, the Saints could land another big-bodied receiving option either at tight end or wide receiver. Doing so could cut into some of Olave’s opportunities, but too many mouths to feed is a far superior situation than not having enough. Even so, Olave is expected to be a major focal point in the New Orleans passing game.
“Chris is a phenomenal player,” Moore said of Olave during the NFL’s annual meetings. “He has had a huge impact on this team. He’s going to have a huge impact (again).”
Just a reminder that Chris Olave is that guy.

The biggest task for the young receiver will be staying healthy. He has suffered four concussions in his three NFL seasons, along with other occasional ailments. The term “injury prone” gets thrown around too much when it comes to Olave’s situation, but it is no mystery that health will be a major factor in determining his future success.
Olave came into the league with two back-to-back 1,000 yard receiving seasons, but had a shortened season last year that held his total to only 400 receiving yards and a single touchdown reception.
Even through Olave’s 1,000-yard seasons, his scoring contributions were limited to just nine touchdown catches over the two years. If he can stay on the field in 2025, deliver another productive season in volume stats while contributing more to the scoreboard, Olave’s 2025 could be his best season yet.
