Deion Sanders hints at Saints connection during Colorado pro day

As the Colorado Buffaloes endeavored upon the team’s pro day Friday, head coach Deion Sanders appeared to hint at a connection with the New Orleans Saints. With Sanders’ son, Shedeur Sanders, being consistently connected to the team, the flames are now in a full rage when it comes to the young Colorado passer landing in New Orleans, thanks to the heavy insinuations of his father.

During the ESPN Sportscenter coverage of the Buffs’ pro day, NFL Insider Field Yates was signing off with Coach Sanders following an interview at which time, the head coach made sure to go out with a bang.

After Yates made reference to the “who’s who” of NFL personnel in the building, Sanders interjected. “I gotta end with this,” he said. “I like these colors, though. Don’t you like these colors?” Sanders then turned to the camera and delivered the line again, rising from his chair with a grin. “I like these colors. I like these colors” with co-signs from another panel-member, EPSN’s Louis Riddick “Winky wink, wink!”

The statement connects to a line that Coach Sanders also delivered during his press conference. In a clip shared by Adam Scott, co-host of the Saints Block Party Podcast, Sanders answered Scott’s question about his son landing with the Saints with similar language. “I like their colors,” he said. “I like their colors. I like the city. I like the food. I like the people. I like the possibility.”

So, Sanders is either sharing what he knows about the team’s interest in his son, the star quarterback from Colorado, or he’s working really hard to convince another team that the signal caller won’t make it past No. 9 overall. If he succeeds in the latter, a team like the New York Giants could be persuaded to take his son at No. 3 overall, or another team like the Pittsburgh Steelers could look to leap the Saints like the Kansas City Chiefs did in 2018 for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

In either case, the Hall of Fame quarterback isn’t missing his chance to have an impact on this year’s draft dialogue.
