ESPN’s FPI predicts Week 5
09/25/2024
ESPN FPI updated their analytics and projections to simulate the percentage odds to win for every SEC game in the Week 5 slate. Five of the six games around the league this week feature a conference game while only LSU plays a non-conference opponent.
Here’s how the computers think this week’s games play out.
Kentucky @ 6 Ole Miss
FPI Prediction: Ole Miss 90.5%
21 Oklahoma @ Auburn
FPI Prediction: Oklahoma 57.4%
Arkansas vs 24 Texas A&M (in Dallas)
FPI Prediction: Texas A&M 56%
Mississippi State @ 1 Texas
FPI Prediction: Texas 98.1%
2 UGA @ 4 Alabama
FPI Prediction: Alabama 66%
South Alabama @ 14 LSU
FPI Prediction: LSU 78.5%
Perhaps the biggest surprise on the list is the model having Alabama being a 66% chance to win against UGA. The game is being played in Tuscaloosa, but Georgia has been the betting favorite since the line was initially released this summer. FPI hasn’t been too high on the Dawgs since their close call to Kentucky a few weeks ago. Following the, 13-12, win in Lexington, the model projected Georgia to lose three regular season games to Alabama, Texas, and Ole Miss.
