Former LSU TE Mac Markway Lands at Nebraska

08/27/2024

Former LSU tight end Mac Markway has a new home.  The sophomore announced he is transferring to Nebraska.

Markway abruptly left LSU during fall camp three weeks before the season starts.  He played in 12 games as a freshman, recording three receptions and a touchdown.  His lone start came against Mississippi State in place of an injured Mason Taylor.

LSU sophomore Ka’Morreun Pimpton is expected to take on a larger role for the Tigers in 2024 and freshman tight end Trey’Dez Green was one of the stars of camp.  The five star signee is 6-foot-7 and projects as a legitimate receiving threat.

Markway was one of the top tight ends in the country coming out of DeSmet (St. Louis) in 2023.  He was ranked as high as the third best tight end in the country by ESPN.  The On3 Composite pegged him as the No. 254 overall prospect and the No. 17 tight end.

Nebraska opens the season Saturday against UTEP.  It is unclear if Markway will be available against the Miners as the Cornhuskers open their second season under head coach Matt Rhule.
