10/08/2024
Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young was arrested early Tuesday morning for a misdemeanor assault of an unborn child and battery. The Athens Clarke-County police department booked Young at 4:18 AM with a bond of $2,500. According to Georgia law, if convicted he could face a fine, jail time, or potentially both.
Young becomes the seventh Georgia football player arrested since March. The program has had over 25 total players arrested since January of 2023. Georgia transfer wide receiver Rara Thomas was arrested in July for family violence charges and promptly dismissed from the team.
Young is a transfer from Miami and is fourth on the team in receptions with 11 for 149 yards and two touchdowns on the year. Kirby Smart is set to speak with the media Tuesday evening.
