In Case You Missed it: Friday night football

By Chris Marler
There were a trio of games on Friday night including two ranked opponents with college football playoff expectations. Also one other school, who since not making the college football playoff has tried to leave their conference, started 1-6, and has somehow lost on multiple continents. We’ll start there.
Florida State loses to Duke
Every time this team takes the field, they do something even worse than the last time. It’s astonishing. It’s honestly the epitome of that quote from Anchorman, “I’m not even mad. I’m impressed.”
This week they lost to Duke for the first time in program history. The Seminoles were previously 22-0 against the Blue Devils. However, nobody walks into that absolute snake pit of Wallace Wade Stadium on a Friday night in front of dozens of fans and comes away with a win.
Right? People say that, right? This week’s “achievement” from the Seminoles was a doozy.

Oregon blanks Purdue and makes Big Picks Energy the first win of the weekend
Fun Fact – Purdue has nine wins all-time against the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country as an unranked team. That’s more than double any other team in college football history. It didn’t matter Friday night.
Oregon blanked Purdue, 35-0, improving to 7-0. More importantly, our lock of the week in Big Picks Energy improved to 7-1 on the season. Purdue continues to be one of only two teams in the entire country who has yet to score a first quarter point against an FBS opponent.
I’ll post the rest of #BigPicksEnergy tomorrow AM but you’re first play of the weekend is tonight
AND it’s the LOCK OF THE WEEK 🔒🔒

BYU continues to be a wagon
BYU improved to 7-0 this year with a, 38-35, win against preseason Top 15 team and projected Big 12 champion, Oklahoma State. The 7-0 is wildly impressive led by inspirational quarterback Jake Retzlaff. However, as the saying goes, good teams win, but great teams cover.
BYU is 6-1 against the spread this season which ranks third in the country this season.
