Emery started his college career as freshman on the 2019 LSU national championship team. COVID-19 allowed all players an additional season after 2020, and Emery lost a year to academics in 2021 and to a torn ACL after one game in 2024.
The former five-star prospect has torn an ACL during each of the last two seasons.
Over his six years at LSU, Emery amassed 1,123 rushing yards and 16 total touchdowns. He graduated from LSU in May of 2024 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies.
In September, LSU coach Brian Kelly discussed John Emery’s future with the Tigers on The Paul Finebaum Show.
“And John knows that he has a life outside of football,” Kelly said. “Is he disappointed? Absolutely. We’re crushed for him. But he knows that he has a life outside of football, and now he’s going to be working toward that.”
