Phase one of the NFL offseason is officially under way for the New Orleans Saints. The team began their offseason workout program on Monday, ten days before the NFL Draft.

Several key players were in attendance, including a young quarterback, veteran leaders, and others returning from injury. The Saints gave fans and those sleuthing a glimpse at some of the players in attendance on Sunday. Here are the players that were identified.

Players returning from injury

Some players whose seasons ended early last year were back in the facility on Monday.

Each of these players have had sizable contributions to their respective units, including special teams for a couple. It’s a positive sign to see them back and working with the team and new director of sports science Ted Rath.

Veteran players

A few veterans were also in attendance—players viewed as leaders in the locker room and within their position groups.

Sometimes veterans will have workout bonuses built into their deals and still not participate in this phase. These players being present with a new coaching staff is a strong sign.

A young quarterback steps up

With veteran passer Derek Carr dealing with a shoulder injury that threatens his 2025 and future with the team, all eyes were on second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler. The fifth-round draft pick from 2024’s draft made it known that he was back at the facility early last week. He was also captured in the team’s social media post multiple times.
