Lattimore expected to make Commanders debut against Saints

NEW ORLEANS — It has taken a few weeks, but former New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore is finally expected to make his way back to the field for the first time since being traded to the Washington Commanders. In a fairly poetic turn of events, his Commanders debut will end up being against the very team that traded him away, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Saints moved Lattimore to the Commanders at the trade deadline along with a fifth-round draft selection in 2025 for a trio of 2025 draft picks, headlined by a third-rounder.
Lattimore was traded while managing a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the game before he was traded. He would then go on to be unavailable for Washington for his first four games with the team. Now, he’s expected to make his return just in time for a revenge game against the Saints.
New Orleans won’t have either of its top wide receivers with Rashid Shaheed out for the season after knee surgery and Chris Olave unlikely to return after a pair of confirmed concussions this season. Lattimore may also be facing one of the Saints’ young quarterbacks as starter Derek Carr manages his left hand injury and navigates concussion protocol.
This will be the first time Lattimore takes the field as a Commander and simultaneously the first time he trots out of the Caesars Superdome tunnel in an opposing uniform.
His return to New Orleans won’t be the only revenge game potential on Sunday. Saints defensive end Chase Young was traded from Washington to San Francisco last year before signing with New Orleans over the offseason. The Saints also traded with Washington to obtain defensive tackle John Ridgeway III before the season began. Ridgeway made waves in interim head coach Darren Rizzi’s first game leading the way with a game-sealing field goal block. It was the first of two game-winning special team splays over the last four weeks.
