Texas freshman running back Christian Clark will miss the 2024 season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in practice Monday, the school announced.

The news comes six days after Texas announced its starting running back CJ Baxter would miss the season after undergoing surgery following a knee injury also suffered at practice.

Clark, a four star running back out of Phoenix, was expected to play a major role in the Longhorns running game after Baxter’s injury.  Texas is down to three scholarship running backs.

Junior Jaydon Blue is now expected to pace the Longhorn’s rushing attack despite have only 71 career rushing attempts.  Sophomore Quintrevion Wisner and freshman Jerrick Gibson are the other scholarship backs on the roster.

No. 4 Texas opens the season at home August 31 against Colorado State before a trip to defending national champion Michigan in Week 2.
