LSU Adds Jackson to Operations Staff

Brian Kelly has added Rick Jackson as Assistant Director of Football Operations to the LSU Football staff.

Jas Smith has served as LSU Director of Football Operations since 2022.

Jackson is a Los Angeles native with deep ties to Louisiana.  He spent the previous three seasons at Southern University as Director of Football Operations/Player Personnel.  As a player, Jackson was a team captain at Grambling as was part of the 2008 Black College National Championship Team.  After his playing career, Jackson worked as a graduate assistant and as Director of Football Operations at his alma mater.

In between his stints at Grambling and Southern, Jackson spent four seasons (2019-22) heading up football operations at Prairie View A&M.

After graduating from Grambling, Jackson earned his master’s degree in sports administration in 2014.

Brian Kelly is entering his third season at LSU head coach.  This offseason, he added Austin Thomas to his staff as Senior Associate AD for Football Administration.
