LSU senior defensive tackle Jacobian Guillory will miss the rest of the season after tearing his Achilles tendon, sources confirmed to LouisianaSports.net.
Lonn Phillips Sullivan of LSU Odyssey initially reported the news.
Guillory exited Saturday night’s game against Nicholls State and was taken to the LSU locker room in a wheelchair for imaging.
Guillory was the Tigers’ most proven defender on the interior defensive line. The Alexandria native has played in 41 games at LSU with five starts. He leaves a massive hole in the Tiger defensive front.
Wisconsin transfer Gio Paez has started LSU’s first two games opposite Guillory. Saturday night, JUCO transfer Shone Washington and true freshman Ahmad Breaux took the majority of the reps after Guillory’s exit. Defensive end Paris Shand has also shifted inside to tackle at 6-foot-4 and 275 lbs.
Senior Jalen Lee started four games at Florida before transferring to LSU. Last season he appeared in seven games. He will likely be asked to contribute more moving forward. As will true freshman and former five-star recruit Dominic McKinley.
LSU begins SEC play Saturday at South Carolina. Kickoff is set for 11:00am.
