Marler: LSU vs. Alabama best bets

By Chris Marler
We usually post just one edition of Big Picks Energy every week. However, Saturday’s game in Baton Rouge is the one of the biggest games of the year and since we know one of those two teams will leave Death Valley with their playoff hopes bankrupt, we might as well make some money to help cheer up the losing fanbase.
On the board, we have the best five picks for LSU-Alabama, and five bets that will have you singing “Neck” to your bookie as soon as collection day comes on Tuesday. Enjoy!
Alabama 1st Quarter Moneyline
LSU is a great offense and I think Alabama could struggle early with crowd noise and the pass rush of the Tigers. However, the Tide defense is really good, and they are really good especially in the opening quarter. They’re allowing only 2.4 ppg in the first quarter this season, and they’ve held opponents scoreless in the first quarter in four of their last five games.
Aaron Anderson Over 53 receiving yards
Alabama’s secondary is very young and very thin due to injuries. Kyren Lacey is the alpha in that receiver room and Nussmeier’s go-to guy. However, Anderson has come on strong this season as a dependable second option in what is a breakout season for him. The prop is over 53 receiving yards, and Anderson has gone over that in seven of eight games this season including over 73 yards in five of his last six.
LSU +3.5
LSU is 13-0 in night games in Death Valley under Brian Kelly, and have won 14 straight home games overall. Bama isn’t mentally tough enough to win this game. Take the points to be safe, but LSU will win outright.
Caden Durhan Over 13 receiving yards and/or Anytime TD scorer
Durham has five touchdowns in his last five games, and he’s had at least 40 yards receiving in three of his last five.
Justice Haynes Anytime TD score
Justice Haynes has scored a touchdown in three straight games, and he’ll be facing a defense that has allowed 14 total rushing touchdowns this season including ten in four games against SEC opponents. Starting running backs are averaging over 80 yards per game and at least one rushing touchdown in games against LSU this season, and the Tigers have allowed a player to score at least two touchdowns in four of their eight games as well.
