MARLER: Week 3 SEC Power Rankings

Here are my Week 3 SEC Power Rankings:
“Best” of the rest
16 – Kentucky
15 – Auburn
14 – Mississippi State
13 – Florida
12 – Texas A&M
11 – Arkansas
10 – Vandy
It’s week three and Vandy is one win away from going over their season win total from Vegas. Diego Pavia has been awesome at QB and is quickly becoming a fan favorite not just in Nashville, but around the league. The ‘Dores beat Alcorn State 55-0 in front of a near sellout crowd in Nashville. What a time to be alive, y’all!
9 – Oklahoma
A four touchdown favorite resulted in a four point win against lowly Houston on Saturday. Let me save OU fans some time before you overreact and make excuses on social media. I didn’t watch the game because I was watching actual teams play actual opponents and not actually look like crap against arguably the worst P4 team in America.
8 – South Carolina
All aboard the Beamer Ball hype train. South Carolina looked dreadful in week one against Old Dominion, eeking out a four point win where they needed two turnovers inside the ten yard line. Fast forward seven days where they absolutely dominated Kentucky, 31-6, despite being an 8.5 point underdog. The offense is still struggling with new QB LaNorris Sellers, but the defense has proven to be one of the best units in the league so far behind an incredible pass rush.
7 – LSU
LSU won by three scores against Nicholls, but it was a lackluster performance by all accounts. At one point late in the first half it was 16-14 against the in-state FCS team. The good news is that Garrett Nussmeier continues to be even better than expected. The bad news is they cannot seem to get the run game going, and they lost a starting D-Lineman for the season to injury.
6 – Mizzou
Mizzou will most likely stay right around this spot for most of the first half of the season considering the schedule. They beat Buffalo, 38-0, Saturday and host a ranked Boston College in CoMo this weekend. They have to get Luther Burden going if they want to be an actual contender in the postseason. He was held to three catches for 15 yards and had a total of just 36 yards of offense against the Bulls.
5 – Alabama
Hey Bama, maybe never schedule USF again? For the second year in a row Alabama found itself in an absolute dogfight with the Bulls, and this one lasted into the 4th quarter. At one point in the third, Alabama had five consecutive drives that totaled -23 yards of offense. They better figure it out before UGA comes to town at the end of the month.
4 – Tennessee
Tennessee is quickly becoming one of the best teams in the conference and a legitimate contender for the 12 team CFP. They went to Charlotte to play a ranked NC State team that many had as a dark horse to win the ACC and potentially make the playoff. The Vols beat the Wolfpack by 40 and held them to 27 yards of offense in the second half of the game.
3 – Ole Miss
Jaxson Dart is leading the world in everything. Last week it was 440 yards and 6 TDs. This week it’s an SEC record 24 straight completions to start the game vs MTSU. Ole Miss is outscoring their opponents 128-3 so far this season.
2 – Texas
Texas absolutely manhandled Michigan in The Big House Saturday. The offense did whatever they wanted at times, and before a garbage time touchdown with less than three minutes to play, the Longhorns were up 31-6. And, it could’ve been much worse.
1 – UGA
It’s UGA’s world and everyone else is just living it. The scariest thing about UGA this week is that Clemson put up 66 on App State a week after the Dawgs held them to 3 points in Atlanta. Sheesh.
