09/20/2024
By Chris Marler
Before we get into the games, we have a special stat that you’re gonna hate. Why? Well, if it seems like officials have been even more incompetent and more involved in games so far this season, it’s because they are. Our first number to know for Week 4…
8: Eight of the SEC’s total 16 teams rank 96th or worse in penalty yards per game this season. Seven of those eight rank 107th or worse.
Also…
92347102307: Total hours spent crying about officials this week from South Carolina fans.
Florida at Mississippi State Line: Florida -6 Total: 58.5
7: Florida has lost seven of their last eight games outright and failed to cover the spread in seven of the last eight as well.
33: Florida has allowed 33 points or more in seven of their last eight games vs FBS teams.
-49: In their last two games, Mississippi State has been outscored by 49 points combined at halftime, trailing Arizona State and Toledo by a combined score of 55-6.
Kentucky vs Ohio Line: UK -20 Total: 41.5
16th: Kentucky ranks dead last in the conference in scoring offense (16.3), total offense (261.3), and passing offense (109.0).
13: Dating back to 2017, Mark Stoops is 13-0 in non-conference games against P5/P4 FBS opponents. Kentucky has won five of the last seven of those by at least 30 points or more.
LSU vs UCLA Line: LSU -22.5 Total: 56.5
8: LSU has allowed eight rushing TDs this season which is the second most in the country for Power 4 teams.
38.7: Average pass attempts per game so far this season. That’s the most of any LSU QB in a non-covid year in program history.
14.5: UCLA’s average ppg scored this season which ranks 126th in the country and dead last among P4 teams.
Arkansas @ Auburn Line: Auburn -2.5 Total: 58.5
13: Auburn (9) and Arkansas (4) have combined for 13 total turnovers so far this season which ranks 14th and 16th worst in the SEC respectively.
8.45: Yards per carry for Arkansas RB Ja’Quinden Jackson so far this season which is second in the country for players with a minimum 30 carries.
6.04: Average yards per rush that Auburn allowed to New Mexico last week.
7: Auburn has won seven of the last eight versus Arkansas, and the over has hit in seven of the last eight as well.
Mizzou vs Vandy Line: Mizzou -20 Total: 52.5
6: The total has gone under in six straight games between Mizzou and Vandy.
8.0+: Mizzou and Vandy both average over eight penalties per game this season which ranks 111th and 103rd nationally.
Texas A&M vs Bowling Green Line: A&M -22.5 Total: 51.5
4: This is the fourth straight season that the starting quarterback in the season opener for Texas A&M missed multiple games due to injury. The last three years ended with season ending injuries.
1: In Bowling Green’s last three games vs P4 opponents they have one win, and both losses were by only one score. They’re averaging just under 30 ppg in those games as well.
50/50: Bowling Green has the most balanced offense in America. Through two games they’re averaging 435 yards per game, 212 yards rushing and 213 yards passing.
South Carolina vs Akron Line: USC -27 Total: 42.5
2: Akron hasn’t won more than two games in a season since 2018 (when they won a whopping four).
40.2: Since 2018 Akron is 0-9 vs P5/P4 teams losing by an average of 40.2 points per game. Only one of those nines were losses by less than 32 points.
Ole Miss vs Ga Southern Line: Ole Miss -36.5 Total: 66.5
2.69: Both Ole Miss and Georgia Southern average 2.9 plays per minute on offense which ranks Top 15 nationally. They average 77.5 and 73 total plays per game respectively.
132nd: Georgia Southern ranks 132nd in the country in rushing defense allowing over 236 ypg, 10 total rushing TDs, and a whopping 6.57 ypc.
Texas vs UL Monroe Line: Texas -44.5 Total: 52.5
15.4: Arch Manning is averaging 15.4 yards per play on offense so far this season. He’s averaging a cool 17.7 yards per attempt through the air and 8.8 yards per carry on the ground.
3.43: Arch Manning has seven total touchdowns this season on just 24 total offensive plays. That means the backup quarterback in Austin is averaging a touchdown less than every 3.5 plays. That’s insane.
