McKinstry, McCoy targeting return to the lineup Sunday
11/13/2024
NEW ORLEANS – The biggest story this week is likely to be the return of quarterback Jameis Winston to the Caesars Superdome as the leader of the Cleveland Browns. But until then, the New Orleans Saints will be focused on getting their talent healthy and out on the field. While they are still dealing with some key injuries, there are a couple of big returns that should really move the needle on each side of the ball.
Here is the information from the Saints’ and Browns’ first injury report of Week 11.
New Orleans Saints

LB Pete Werner (Hand)
RB Jamaal Williams (Groin)
G Lucas Patrick (Ankle)
Limited Participation:
WR Cedrick Wilson Jr. (Shoulder)
RB Kool-Aid McKinstry (Hamstring)
S Jordan Howden (Shoulder)
S J.T. Gray (Hip)
C Erik McCoy (Groin)
Full Participation:
LB Nephi Sewell (Knee)
The Saints could be seeing three impactful returns this weekend. Center Erik McCoy has been sidelined since Week 3 with a groin injury that required surgery. He may finally be making his way back out to lead the offensive line this weekend.
Cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry hasn’t been on the field since the trade of cornerback Marshon Lattimore. With Lattimore in Washington and fellow starter Paulson Adebo out for the season, McKinstry gets an early shot as a rookie to prove he and Alontae Taylor can be the future at the position.
Meanwhile, linebacker Nephi Sewell’s season debut could be on the way, allowing him to provide some additional depth and playmaking on special teams and on the second level of the defense. New Orleans has been high on Sewell since he arrived as an undrafted free agent in 2022.
Sewell could be returning just in time with Werner currently dealing with injury. If Werner were to miss this weekend next to starter Demario Davis, veteran Willie Gay Jr. would be able to step into his role while Sewell could get snaps on the strongside.
Cleveland Browns
Limited Participation:
G Joel Bitonio (Pectoral)
Full Participation:
LB Jordan Hicks (Elbow/Triceps)
WR Jerry Jeudy (Knee)
QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson (Right Finger)
T Jedrick Wills (Knee)
The Browns are looking very healthy going into this one. With running back Nick Chubb having returned three weeks ago, the team may finally have their offensive line back in front of him to pave the way. Meanwhile, safety Denzel Ward, who suffered his sixth confirmed career concussion, has been back and ready to go already. The Browns’ bye week came at the right time for them to be at their healthiest yet as they arrive in New Orleans.
