Non-quarterbacks top newest Heisman odds
10/07/2024
We saw a historic weekend in college football this past Saturday. Crazy upsets, historic firsts, and the Calgorithm on full display in front of a national audience. The chaos that ensued in week six has led to another potential first that we have seen only four times in the 2000s.
Could a non-quarterback win the Heisman trophy?
BetMGM updated their odds for the 25-pound bronze statue, and for the first time in recent memory the top two players listed aren’t quarterbacks.
Here’s a look at the current odds
- RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State +200
- ATH Travis Hunter, Colorado +300
- QB Cam Ward, Miami +500
- QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama +1100
- QB Dillon Gabriel, Oklahoma +1400
- QB Cade Klubnik, Clemson +2000
- QB Quinn Ewers, Texas +2000
- QB Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss +2200
- QB Carson Beck, Georgia +2500
- QB Nico Iamaleava, Tennessee +3500
- QB Drew Allar, Penn State +4000
- QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado +4000
- QB Garrett Nussmeier, LSU +5000
Both Jeanty and Hunter have already put up monster seasons. Jeanty has over 1000 yards rushing and 16 total touchdowns through just five games. To put that in perspective, he’s currently outpacing Barry Sanders historic 1988 Heisman season when he had 2,628 rushing yards and 37 rushing touchdowns.
