Numbers to Know: 3 Surprising SEC Stats
09/11/2024
Two (OK, really three) weeks into the college football season, here are three eye-popping stats:
0: LSU had zero rushing TDs. That may not be a huge surprise considering Garrett Nussmeier has eight passing TDs. But what is surprising is that they are the only team in the SEC without a rushing TD.
+125: Ole Miss has won their first two games by a combined score of 128-3. Granted their opponents have been not great (Furman and MTSU), but regardless of who they’re playing, that is a crazy impressive number in their first two games of the season. How crazy? It’s the highest point differential in the first two weeks for any SEC team in the AP Poll era.
7: Luther Burden III has seven total receptions for 64 yards this season. He had at least seven catches and 96 yards in each of his first six games last season. He had over 100 yards receiving in five of those six games as well. To say it’s been a lackluster start to the season is an understatement. And it’s not like Mizzou has played tough competition. The Tigers are 2-0 vs Murray State and Buffalo.
