Nussmeier, Weeks named Players of the Week

Brian Kelly asked for his offense and defense complement each other. Saturday night both units produced the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week.

Junior Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was named the Offensive Player of the Week. The Tiger signal caller threw for 337 yards and three scores. his final two passes of the night were the tying and winning touchdowns to Aaron Anderson and Kyren Lacy.

Nussmeier has thrown for over 300 yards in five of LSU’s six games and ranks sixth in the country in passing yards.

Sophomore linebacker Whit Weeks earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for his career-high 18 tackles in the win. Weeks made 10 solo stops including a sack to end regulation. He also forced a crucial fumble before halftime that LSU turned into a field goal.

Weeks leads the Tigers and the SEC in stops with 59 on the season.

Bradyn Swinson was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week after notching a pair of sacks against the Rebels. It’s the second time this season Swinson has earned the honor. He also won Defensive Player of the Week for his three-sack game at South Carolina.
