OU loses center to season-ending injury
09/10/2024
Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables confirmed starting center Geirean Hatchett will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a bicep injury in Saturday’s win over Houston.
Hatchett is a redshirt senior playing his first season for the Sooners after transferring from Washington.
The injury is another blow to the OU offensive line that has already seen its depth tested. Hatchett played 51 snaps in the opener against Temple at left guard but moved to center after Branson Hickman was injured. With Hatchett out for the season, the Sooners will turn to redshirt freshman Josh Bates to fill his spot.
Oklahoma hosts Tulane Saturday before opening SEC play Sept. 21 in Norman against Tennessee and former Sooners quarterback and coach Josh Heupel.
