Report: Pelicans finalizing deal with Joe Dumars to become new VP of Operations

Hall of Famer Joe Dumars is headed home and will become the next president of basketball operations in New Orleans, according to Shams Charania.

Dumars formerly held this position at the Detroit Pistons from 2000-2014, helping build the 2004 championship team. He most recently served as the executive vice president and head of basketball operations for the NBA (2022-2025).
Dumars is originally from Shreveport, LA and played for McNeese State University before being drafted by the Pistons in 1985. He spent his entire career there, winning two NBA championships in 1989 and 1990.
