Preseason AP Top 25 Reaction

The official preseason Top 25 Poll has been released from the Associated Press. To no one’s surprise UGA and Ohio State claimed the Top 2 spots with Oregon, Texas, and Alabama rounding out the Top 5.

All in all, 9 total SEC teams made the Top 25 with all 9 being ranked in the Top 20 overall including 4 in the Top 10.

SEC Teams included in the initial Rankings

1 – UGA
3 – Texas
5 – Alabama
6 – Ole Miss
11 – Mizzou
13 – LSU
15 – Tennessee
16 – Oklahoma
20 – Texas A&M

The rankings for SEC teams were almost completely identical to the Preseason Coaches Poll with LSU being the only difference ranking one spot lower at 13 in the AP Poll. The Tigers play 5 teams in 2024 that are currently ranked in the Preseason Top 25, but only 1 of those is a true road game, and 3 of them are in Death Valley.

The SEC once again had the most teams ranked in the poll followed by the Big Ten (6), Big 12 (5), and the ACC (4). Notre Dame claimed the only ranking for a non P4 team coming it at 7th overall to start the season.
