Another New Orleans Saints head coach interview has been scheduled.
Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Saints’ interview with New York Giants offensive coordinator and assistant head coach Mike Kafka has been scheduled for Friday.
Kafka’s interview is the second confirmed meeting between the Saints and a head coach candidate. The first was Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn’s interview, which is reportedly scheduled for some time between Thursday and Saturday.
Kafka first jumped out on the map for the public after finding some remarkable success with the Kansas City Chiefs and their quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Many credit the success however to head coach Andy Reid who is the team’s play caller and architect.
After his stint in Kansas City, Kafka went on to be the play calling offensive coordinator with the New York Giants. Head coach Brian Daboll assumed the play calling duties from Kafka after two seasons.
Kafka’s name has continued to emerge as a head coach candidate, though many share concerns of how much of his success that put him on the map was actually due to someone else. These are the types of things that are likely to be addressed in the interview process.
