Everyone knew that the Detroit Lions defensive coordinator name would be high on the list of New Orleans Saints’ head coaching candidates, and now there’s a timeline set for Aaron Glenn’s interview.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Saints are expected to be one of four teams with which Aaron Glenn will interview later this week. Glenn reportedly plans to schedule his interviews between Thursday and Saturday, as the Lions have earned a first-round bye in the playoffs.

The interviews will all take play virtually, which is par for the course due to NFL rules. In person interviews cannot be conducted with candidates that are actively coaching in the playoffs until after Jan. 19 and after their team has been eliminated from contention.

Glenn and his Lions colleague, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, may have added their most impressive resume line in the final week with a nationally televised shellacking of the Minnesota Vikings to earn their 15-2 record and first-round bye. Both are already among the top names in this coaching cycle.

Glenn is interviewing with four of the five open coaching positions this week. In addition to the Saints, he will interview with the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, and Jacksonville Jaguars. The only team that he does not have an interview with is the New England Patriots, who are strongly tied to another candidate in former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel.

Glenn is one of six interview requests or confirmed interviews the Saints are holding. You can find the rest on our head coach interview tracker. There is a widespread expectation that Vrabel will also be added to the Saints interview list soon.
