Report: Saints hire assistant special teams coach

By Ross Jackson
NEW ORLEANS, La. — The New Orleans Saints are making moves ahead of the Scouting Combine, kicking off the week with a flurry of coaching hires.
Their newest comes from the special teams phase of the game.
Per NOLA.com’s Luke Johnson, the Saints are hiring former Green Bay Packers quality control coach Kyle Wilber to be their assistant special teams coach.
Wilber, 35, fills the role vacated by Phil Galiano who was promoted to become the team’s lead special teams coordinator.
The former Packers coaching staff member is a former NFL linebacker with ten years of playing experience. He spent time as a player with both the Dallas Cowboys from 2012-2017 and the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders from 2018-2021
Wilber began his career as a special teams contributor with the Cowboys and even transitioned to defensive end early on. He ultimately established himself as a core special teamer before shifting into coaching. Wilber also brings a connection to new Saints head coach Kellen Moore, as the two were teammates with the Cowboys from 2015-2017. His firsthand experience and familiarity with Moore’s leadership could prove valuable as he transitions into his new role. This furthers the Saints’ continued investment and elevation of the special teams side of the game.
