NEW ORLEANS, La. – The coaching staff in New Orleans continues to see updates and additions. After retaining wide receivers coach Keith Williams and hiring offensive line coach Brendan Nugent, the Saints now have their new tight ends coach.

The Saints have agreed to terms with Chase Haslett, son of former head coach Jim Haslett, to serve as tight ends coach, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafol.

The hire reunites Haslett with head coach Kellen Moore. The two overlapped with the Dallas Cowboys from 2020 through 2022. During that time, Haslett was the Cowboys’ quality control coach. After Moore’s departure in 2023, Haslett took on the title assistant tight ends coach and became the Cowboys’ passing game coordinator in 2024.

He also worked with tight ends throughout his early collegiate coaching career and focused on the position while working as the quality control coach under Moore. That includes a fantastic 2021 season for former Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz, in which he set career highs in catches (78), receiving yards (808) and touchdown receptions (8).

This will be Haslett’s first stint as a lead tight ends coach. He inherits a talented group led by veteran Foster Moreau, with Juwan Johnson currently set to hit free agency. Should he return, the team could continue to look at adding additional talent, while also investing in the development of a young option like last year’s undrafted free agent Dallin Holker.

Schultz could now see New Orleans as an interesting landing spot, should he hit free agency this offseason now that Moore and Haslett are teamed up in the Big Easy. Schultz has a potential out in his contract this offseason with his $11 million 2025 base salary entirely non-guaranteed.
