NEW ORLEANS – The trenches continue to be a focus for the New Orleans Saints in free agency. After trading to land a big-bodied defensive lineman Davon Godchaux and re-signing edge rusher Chase Young, New Orleans is adding another versatile piece.
Per Athlon Sports’s John Hendrix, the Saints are signing defensive lineman Jonah Williams.

Williams has experience rushing off the edge and playing from the interior. He was with the Los Angeles Rams from 2020 to 2023 before spending last season with a trio of teams, the Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, and also the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad.
The 6-foot-5, 275-pound defender spent his collegiate career with Weber State (same as wide receiver Rashid Shaheed) before entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He spent his rookie season on the practice squad, overlapping with Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley.
Staley and Williams now reunite in New Orleans as the Saints add another potential piece to their defensive trenches.
Williams has appeared in 50 games throughout his five-year career with 23 starts. During that time he’s corralled 80 total tackles, five for a loss, 10 hits on the quarterback, and 2.5 sacks.
