INDIANAPOLIS – The New Orleans Saints continue to dive into the collegiate coaching market to build out their defensive staff and this time, they’re bringing in an LSU Tiger.

Per NOLA.com’s Luke Johnson, the Saints are hiring LSU defensive line coach Bo Davis to hold the same role in New Orleans. The report was confirmed by LouisianaSports.Net.

Davis is a highly-touted defensive line coach, finding success with several programs including Texas and Alabama. He also has several years of NFL coaching experience spending 2018-2020 with the Detroit Lions and 2006 with the Miami Dolphins.

The former LSU defensive lineman began his career under Nick Saban, making him a natural fit with Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, whose defense carries influences from Vic Fangio’s system.

New Orleans knows the importance of a good defensive line coach. The team struggled in that area over the last couple of years following the departure of Ryan Nielsen. After former head coach Dennis Allen was fired, the Saints reassigned Todd Grantham to defensive assistant last season. Weeks later, Grantham accepted a position at Oklahoma State.

The Saints have leaned heavily on collegiate coaching experience and player experience when building out their defensive coaching staff. Davis checks every box.
