The New Orleans Saints announced three roster moves ahead of their Week 9 preparation. The moves signal some potential complications for two recently injured players that are dealing with lingering issues in the process.
The team announced the following three transactions:
- Terminated the practice squad contract of offensive lineman Sincere Haynesworth
- Signed running back Jordan Mims to the practice squad.
- Signed cornerback Tre Herndon to the practice squad.
Mims’s return feels like a potential indication that recently injured running back Kendre Miller may miss time with his hamstring ailment. This time, a different hamstring than that which sidelined him all of training camp and through the first six games of the season. Mims was recently released from the active roster in the team’s roster moves from last week. This will be one to keep a close eye on.
Herndon, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018, has 83 games of experience with over 30 starts. The 5-foot-11 and 185-pound cornerback will provide additional depth at a position dealing with multiple injuries.
Starting cornerback Paulson Adebo is out for the season, and fellow starter Marshon Lattimore has exited two consecutive games with the same hamstring injury, per head coach Dennis Allen.
These transactions look to be directly tied to injuries at the players’ positions. Making Wednesday’s injury report an important one headed into a divisional matchup on Sunday.
