Saints eyeing linebackers in this year’s NFL Draft

There are a few positions the New Orleans Saints look to have emphasized in their offseason visits and potential draft prospects. Quarterback understandably gets a lot of coverage and attention, but linebacker has been another spot where the Saints have done a lot of homework.
It’s one of the few areas the Saints have their greatest needs for their future, but a rare position on the roster to receive very few additions or transactions.
The Saints picked up the exclusive rights tender on linebacker Nephi Sewell, but have yet to bring in any new addition after Willie Gay Jr.’s departure.

Adding a linebacker in this year’s draft seems like a foregone conclusion. The team has its starters set in Demario Davis and Pete Werner, but beyond that, the room hasn’t had much time to prove itself. If the Saints decide they want to add talent, especially with a thin free agency pool remaining, doing so via the draft makes a ton of sense with the talent available this year.
