Saints LB Demario Davis wants to play three more years

By Ross Jackson
NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis visited with 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge’s After Further Review from Super Bowl Radio Row on Wednesday. During his conversation with host Matt Moscona, Davis discussed several key topics including his career journey, the success of former Saints linebacker Zack Baun, his ”Man of God” headband and even gave a glimpse into how much longer he wants to play in the NFL.
To that, Davis gave a direct timeline.
“My goal is to do three more years and then I’m out of here,” Davis said. “And I’m not planning on no drop-off going out of here.”
Three more years for the 36-year-old linebacker is a lofty goal. But with the way that Davis trains and takes care of his body to, as he described it, “serve his purpose,” it may not be all that unrealistic. Davis only missed his first game due to injury in 2024, after all.
When asked why three years was the goal, he opened up about his desire to represent the city of New Orleans on the NFL’s biggest stage.
“Three more years, I feel like I would love to bring a Super Bowl to New Orleans,” Davis said. “That’s what my focus is. How do we get back to dominant defense and bring that Super Bowl here? I feel like that could get done inside the three years. You want to go out on top.”
Davis has just one year left on his contract with the Saints. While he acknowledges that things could turn around and achieve his goal to bring another Lombardi trophy to New Orleans in that time, getting another contract would be necessary for him to live out that endeavor if it doesn’t happen in 2025.
But for Davis, this is exactly where he feels he should be.
“I think what’s most important is (that) God designed my body for my purpose. And I think I’m living inside of my purpose.”
