Saints QB coach Andrew Janocko could join Kubiak in Seattle

The expected exodus of the New Orleans Saints coaching staff could continue with another assistant coach considering the opportunity to follow former offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to the Seattle Seahawks.
Per ESPN’s Katherine Terrell, the Saints have granted permission for quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko to interview with the Seattle Seahawks, where Kubiak recently landed his next opportunity as offensive coordinator.
Janocko is a highly respected coaching staff member both inside and outside of the Saints’ facility. His innovative approach to development comes from an education background and impressive depth of knowledge of the game of football. Quarterbacks praised the coach’s style and approach constantly throughout the 2024 NFL season.
During his first year with the Saints, Janocko prepared three different quarterbacks, starter Derek Carr, rookie passer Spencer Rattler, and second-year signal caller Jake Haener to make starts as injuries shuffled the position.
Terrell also reports that the Saints would like to keep Janocko on staff. However, with the team’s head coach search ongoing, they have allowed assistant coaches to interview for additional opportunities.
General manager Mickey Loomis addressed this process during his end-of-year press conference. “They’re all employed,” he said. “They all have jobs here until a new coach comes in and makes his determination. If they have an opportunity for someplace else, then come see me and we’ll discuss it, and we’ll grant permission accordingly.”
Should Janocko team back up with Kubiak in the Pacific Northwest, the Saints would have another key role to fill on their offensive staff. However, it would be a position that any new head coach, especially an offensive head coach, would want to have a say in choosing.
Should currently perceived front-runner Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore get the head coach position, some possible names to consider as a possible replacement would be Washington Commanders assistant head coach Brian Johnson and Missouri offensive coordinator Kirby Moore, Kellen Moore’s little brother.
Kirby Moore also coaches quarterbacks with Missouri and previously did so at Fresno State. He coached Haener during the 2022 season and overlapped at different coaching positions during Haener’s entire tenure at Fresno State.
