All 16 teams in the SEC will be on display Tuesday. Here’s what to watch for in this week’s midweek games.

Non-SEC Player to watch: Cardell Thibodeaux

Southern heads to Starkville to play Mississippi State. They are bringing their 15-19 record and the best player in the country you haven’t heard of, Cardell Thibodeaux. He’s just 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds, but he has absolutely torn the cover off the baseball this season. Thibodeaux is hitting .467 with 14 home runs this year, including a .429 average against SEC teams. I’m not sure how stiff the competition is for Southern this entire season, but being second in the country in batting average is elite no matter who you are. Or, who you play.

The last part of that segment title is debatable depending on who you ask, as some Braves fans are still salty about the hometown team moving to “Cobb County.” Regardless, Georgia and Georgia Tech will meet at Truist Park tonight for their annual battle in a big league stadium. Tech has been one of the better teams in the country this year despite still flying under the radar. They’re 29-7 and ranked in the top 15. They boast six hitters batting over .350, three players with double-digit home runs, and a standout center fielder in Drew Burress, a potential No. 1 MLB Draft pick next year.

The winner of this game won’t necessarily vault up in the rankings, but it could be factored in later for seeding when we get  to postseason play and regionals.

Who’s the Hottest Team in the SEC right now?

It’s hard to say it’s not Texas after they’ve won ten of their last 11 SEC games and are the No. 1 team in America. However, my answer is either Auburn or Texas A&M. Auburn is the only team with double digit losses currently ranked in the top ten. But, they are coming off one of the best weeks any team has had this entire season.

The Tigers went 4-0 last week with a win at Georgia Tech in the midweek and then a home sweep of LSU for the first time in 37 years on the weekend. Then there’s Texas A&M who despite having one of the worst first halves of any team in the country has won seven of their last eight. And, in those seven wins they have scored an insane 101 runs.

ESPN and SEC Network need to get their **** together

The midweek slate of games for the SEC isn’t necessarily elite for Holy Week. However, I am begging someone from ESPN/SEC Network to explain to me why we are being subjected to Kentucky-Miami (OH) when we have LSU-McNeese State, Alabama-UAB, Stetson-Florida, and oh yeah Georgia-Georgia Tech in one of two ranked matchups in the entire country.

Luckily, we do at least get Baseball Bedlam on ESPN 2 as Oklahoma travels to Oklahoma State, but come on Disney.

Who’s on upset alert?

LSU.

It’s hard to bet against the Tigers in any game or series considering how loaded this roster is. However, we have seen them struggle to get the bats going recently and they are facing a McNeese team who is 27-5 and has won 12 in a row. LSU needs a dub in The Box badly tonight.
