NEW ORLEANS — Moments after the Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LIX, head coach Nick Sirianni wasted no time casting a quick plea to offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.
The offensive play caller has been expected to take the New Orleans Saints head coach job in the days following the championship game. But as Moore and his team were on the post-game stage, Sirianni shot his shot.
“Let’s run this s*** back, Kellen,” the coach said on the live postgame interview on FOX.
It has sounded like Moore to the Saints is all but official for some time now, so it’s likely Sirianni was just saying this in jest. Head coaches often don’t look to hold their staff back from advancement opportunities, especially ones that come with a massive increase in salary.
But as other offensive coaches have proven this offseason, nothing is done until the ink dries.
