South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers to play Saturday vs Akron

Shane Beamer said starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers will be available to play Saturday against Akron.

Sellers was injured at the end of the first half Saturday against LSU with what was thought to be a high ankle sprain.  He was unable to return and was replaced by Auburn transfer Robbie Ashford. Without Sellers, the offense struggled mightily being held scoreless with just 12 yards of offense in the third quarter.

With an open date after the game against the Zips, Sellers could rest before Ole Miss comes to town on October 12.  That appears unlikely.

“We’re trying to win a game Saturday night,” said Beamer.  “And that’s not going to be easy either.”

Akron hasn’t won more than two games in a season since 2018.
