Spring Portal Window Could Be Closing

Possibly the most talked about, and scrutinized, part of college football over the last few seasons is in the news once again. News broke at the start of the weekend that the NCAA may be considering getting rid of the Spring Portal window before the next cycle in 2025.

Currently there are two windows for NCAA football players to transfer without sitting out. There’s a 30-day window that opens after Conference Championship weekend and runs from December 9th – January 7th. The Spring window, which is the one potentially on the chopping block, is open from April 16th – April 30th.

There’s no word yet on whether or not the new legislation will be adopted by the NCAA, but in the current calendar of college football and the ever changing and inequitable landscape of Power Four Conferences, a universally agreed upon calendar would be great for the sport.
