METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints have left the door open for a few key returns from injury this week, but based on Wednesday’s practice, things may not work out in favor of those trying to come back from injury.

Here is the attendance from the portion of Wednesday’s practice open to the media:

Not Seen:

QB Derek Carr (Left Hand)

RB Kendre Miller (Concussion)

RB Alvin Kamara (Groin)

DE Payton Turner (Ankle)

New:

OL Josh Ball (No. 79)

Carr and Kamara are two returns that the Saints have continued to hope for as the season comes to a close this weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While the decision on Kamara is expected to be made later in the week, the hope for New Orleans was that their starting quarterback would be back out on at practice on Wednesday following some game simulation work early in the week. That did not turn out to be the case.

The Saints are expected to stick with rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler in Tampa as they continue to build their evaluation of the young passer’s future potential.

New Orleans may be shorthanded at running back which would open up another opportunity for Louisiana-native Clyde Edwards-Helaire to get some action in a Saints uniform. He is interested in returning to the team in 2025 and another game of reps could help to persuade New Orleans to do so.
