METAIRIE, La. – With their final selection in the NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints went back to the defensive trenches and got a promising young edge rusher.
With the No. 254 overall selection in the draft, the Saints selected Syracuse edge rusher Fadil Diggs.

Diggs is an athletic and speedy pass rusher that can be a situational guy rushing off the edge. At 6-foot-4 and 257 pounds, he ran a 4.57 40-yard-dash. He had 7.5 sacks and 14 tackles for a loss last year as he lit up the stat sheet.
Expectations will vary on the young defensive end, but he has the potential to develop and contribute on passing downs. He’s a solid replication of the prototype of pass rusher that has succeeded in defensive coordinator Brandon Staley’s defensive scheme before.
Syracuse EDGE Fadil Diggs (#10) ran a 4.57 40 at 257 lbs and his tape has flashes as well. Probably just a situational pass rusher at the NFL Level but I’ll take that on day 3 pic.twitter.com/RGfd3O75WF
