Taysom Hill returns to Saints practice

This is going to be the shortest “not seen” list of the season so far for the New Orleans Saints as the team trends towards better health. A great sign for the team as tight end and offensive weapon Taysom Hill made his return. Head coach Dennis Allen said in his Wednesday media availability that he had hoped the staff could get Hill back out on the field to see where he is. If he ends up practicing again on Friday it would greatly increase his chances to participate in Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Here is the attendance during the portion of practice that was open to the media on Thursday:

Not Seen:

S Will Harris Jr. (Unknown)

OL Landon Young (Foot)

Returned:

TE Taysom Hill (Chest)

DL Khalen Saunders (Calf)

LB D’Marco Jackson (Calf)

Observing:

RB Kendre Miller (Hamstring)

The absence of Harris Jr. is concerning. He and fellow safety Tyrann Matheiu have been outstanding together to start the season. Mathieu described their pairing as “thunder and lightning” after the team’s win against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2. He will be an important name to look for on Friday.

The returns of Hill, Saunders and Jackson don’t necessarily mean they will play this weekend. However, they are all taking steps in the right direction. Saunders was seen only briefly before leaving the field, but was in uniform. It feels unlikely that he will make ahis 2024 debut here in Week 3, but Week 4 is looking like a viable timeline assuming things continue to progress the right way.

The Saints and Eagles will release their injury reports later with more information and practice participation.
