While two of his teammates from the 2023 national title team are making waves in Major League Baseball, Tre Morgan is lighting up the minor leagues.

Thursday the Tampa Bay Rays organization named Morgan the 2024 Minor League Player of the Year. The 21-year-old spent time at Single-A Charleston, High-A Bowling Green and Double-A Montgomery in 2024, posting a .324 batting average and .408 on base percentage. He slugged 10 home runs and stole 20 bases across the three levels.

His final 21 games at Double-A proved to be an adjustment. He hit just .211 for the Montgomery Biscuits in 21 games. Still, his ascent to Double-A in his first full professional season opened many eyes.

Morgan always excelled offensively at LSU, hitting better than .316 in all three of his seasons in Baton Rouge. As he entered professional baseball, questions surrounded his defensive position. His perceived lack of power was thought to move him from first base, his natural position.

Morgan played first base in 54 games. He played left field in 16 others and was the designated hitter in 29 contests.
