Twitter Reacts to Vandy’s upset of Alabama
10/06/2024
Alabama took a No. 1 ranking, and a 23 game winning streak, into Nashville Saturday and left with their first loss in 40 years. Diego Pavia and Vanderbilt pulled off one of the biggest upsets, not only of the year, but maybe in SEC history.
Naturally social media had a field day with the historical upset. Here were some of our favorite tweets after the big win.
Alabama’s played in tough environments before, but they have no clue how to handle playing in Vanderbilt’s active construction site.

NO WAY#Vandy played this quote from Nick Saban after the upset over Alabama:
“The only place that’s not hard to play in the SEC is Vanderbilt.” pic.twitter.com/QDfGufSQol

Alabama got back to #1 after losing Nick Saban only to lose to Vanderbilt in an active construction site because of the heroism of a zero-star QB who played juco ball for the New Mexico Military Institute. What a world

Diego Pavia is the 1st FBS player with 2 passing TD’s & an 80% completed vs an AP No. 1 team since @StephenGarcia vs number 1 Alabama in 2010.
